I met them on my first European tour with @thesubways and we instantly became the best of friends 🙂

It occurred to me recently that a lot of the music

It occurred to me recently that a lot of the music on repeat in my headphones of late, has been the creation of not only lovely & awesome people I have had the pleasure of playing shows and making friends with, but also that they all happen to feature members from my hometown of Brighton!

So I had this nice idea that I’d like to share with you all (and pay some homage to) some of my favourite records at the moment, featuring the very best from Brighton 🎧

First up is the absolutely siiiick @gaffatapesandy who absolutely smashed it out of the park with their latest record. Literally every song is killer. And @robinj_francis is an absolute monster drummer who writes incredibly unique parts. We went on tour together with them a while back and we all had the best time. So thanks for the music guys 🙏

Also, today I turn 36! So here’s to another rotation around the sun. Feeling just a smidge wiser since the last one 🩷

I’ve been a bit quieter recently on here because I’ve been experiencing an exciting new learning curve!

About 3 months ago I approached @acm_uk with the mad proposition that I might be able to take their Hybrid Drums module outside of doing their performance degree (I already have one). Totally expecting them to say it wouldn’t be possible, 3 months later here I am doing it! They’re legends and have made it work for me remotely 🙏👏

Now believe me when I say, and I honestly don’t know how this has happened, but I’ve never been on a gig that’s required hybrid drumming as yet 😂 it’s just what you get the call for at the end of the day and being mostly a rock player, that just hasn’t come up yet. But it’s great to finally be able to understand all this shit, from the editing, routing and right through to the performance.

I’m the only person to have done this course outside of their degree so far, but I believe they want to make it an accessible unit for all at some stage, so go hit them up if it’s something you’re interested in, because so far it has honestly been priceless. 🙏
